The Loose have given the Beeb an exclusive first performance of a track from their forthcoming new album. You can catch Republic of Loose performing ‘Go Steady With It’ on Imeall Geal on BBC 2 Northern Ireland at 10pm tomorrow(Thursday 13th). The Loose open the show so don’t tune in late. BBC Northern Ireland is available free to air on Sky all across Europe on Channel 992

‘I Like Music’, the first single to be released from the forthcoming Republic of Loose album is out on April 4th on iTunes and all other download platforms in Ireland. The band took time out of the studio on Monday and Tuesday to shoot a video for the song in Ardmore Studios. The video will go to TV in a week or so, but keep checking the websites for an exclusive first look. In the meantime, you can hear ‘I Like Music’ here from tomorrow and on the bands My Space now.

Dubliner Magazine are hosting a debate as a preview to Culture Night 2007, in association with Temple Bar Cultural Trust.
Proposing the motion that Ireland has lost its cultural identity are writer Ulick O’Connor, Business and Finance editor Constantin Gurdgiev, artist and writer Mannix Flynn and Sunday Independent journalist Victoria Mary Clarke.
Opposing the motion are arts consultant Ciarán MacGonigal, Kila musician (and Leitrim hurler) Rossa O’Snodaigh, musician and film-maker Philip King and Mik Pyro from Republic of Loose.
The debate is at 7pm sharp on Friday September 7th in SS Michael and John’s Church, 15-19 Essex Street West, Temple Bar.
Eamon Keane from Newstalk 106 will be chairing the debate. It will last about an hour and fifteen minutes, and it will be followed by a drinks reception for our speakers and the audience.

Following the success of the album Aaagh! in Ireland, Republic of Loose have remained totally independent, giving them some insight into surviving without the Major Labels. Following on from Eric Claptons interview with Rolling Stone saying Record companies will be dead in a few years time, Mick Pyro will be dropping into Phantom FM tomorrow morning, accompanied by music journalist Jim Carroll. They will be discussing the music business and the future situation for bands and record companies alike. Focusing on bands getting their music published/on-air, and the best way possible to do so, and their views on the long term involvement with record companies.

Following their blistering set at this years Glastonbury, Republic of Loose
keep their wellies on, headlining the Guinness “INDIE-PENDENCE” festival in
Mitchelstown Cork on August 3rd. Next up it’s on to Reading(Aug
26)/Leeds(Aug 24). They will also be doing COIS FHARRAIGE, Ireland’s First
Surf & Music Festival in Kilkee on September 8th. Festival duties come to a
close with a show at the Monaghan Blues Festival on September 9th. Keep
